Embassy celebrates 112th Independence Day
The Embassy celebrated the 112th anniversary of Philippine Independence in simple but meaningful rites held at the Chancery. Leaders of the Federation of Filipino Organizations in Jordan (FilOrg-Jordan) and several members of the Filipino community in Jordan were able to join Embassy officers and staff for the flag ceremony as the celebration was held on 11 June, which is a Friday and non-working day in Jordan, instead of on the official date, 12 June.
Following the flag ceremony, Ambassador Julius D. Torres delivered brief remarks regarding the significance of the occasion and announced the launching of the new Embassy website to coincide with the celebration of Independence Day. He noted that the launch of the website provides the Embassy with a vital public diplomacy platform that he hoped would serve as as a useful first reference for information related to the work of the Embassy.
After a short prelude highlighting some of the features of the website, Ambassador Torres was joined by Evangeline V. Ybo, President of FilOrg-Jordan, in pressing the symbolic red button to activate the new website.
